A New Program: AVA Words Project
On January 11th, writer and AVA member Vincent Reynolds produced AVA's first literary event in the new space. Author Duff Brenna read from his recently re-released novel, The Book of Mamie, which won the 1988 National Associated Writing Programs Novel Award and tells the story of a wonderfully gifted young woman on an odyssey across the heartland of America. The book is being re-released by Wordcraft of Oregon. Also included in the evening’s lineup were California writer Ricki Muller reading a short story, and Vincent presenting his own poetry. AVA, with Vincent's help, now has a "Words Project" to help create and encourage spoken word and literary events in the art center.
