Sorry to hear that Phil. If you decide to start a petition, I'll sign and pass it along - if they'll censor those paintings what the hell will they even allow?

I was really surprised that they censored the two black-and-white images, as they are pretty damn tame. Hell, there's more T&A in the Vatican...
I've been talking to some other MySpace friends and I guess this has happened before. They've even suddenly deleted entire profiles by artists. Their Terms of Service Agreement is one of those open ended things, that basically means they can do whatever they want, which is not surprising given the problems of managing a subscriber-based content, web 2.0 venture. However, I was surprised that they picked on those images, which are really very, very tame...
I will continue to look into this, and figure out what to do. Right now, however, I'm trying to put more energy into painting, so I'm not sure how much energy I have to put into this...
PS: I'm glad to see that someone occasionally reads and posts in this forum.

Hey Phil,
Who knew you were a pornographic artist! That is really lame! Maybe there is some way you can put a link on myspace that says "to view censored materials, visit this page" and that might draw more people to your other site if it appears scandalous. To combat such a disgrace you've got to slap them around a little and make them appear foolish and lame. So, I guess everything in the Au Naturel show would also be censored as well! How apalling that we live in such an ashamed society! Do they just not look at themselves when they take off their clothes and shower? I guess we ought to go back to wearing large uncomfortable clothes when we go out to swim publicly. Well you got me all stirred up. I will sign your petition if you get one started!

I'm not really sure what a petition would do, or who we would petition to, but thanks...
The problem is that MySpace has over 212 Million accounts, and like any Web 2.0 (subscriber pushed content) business model they are constantly combating pornography, so they have to draw some lines and enforce them. However, I think they have drawn the line way too low; and due to the large size of its subscriber base, the enforcement of its standards is arbitrary at best, and the communication with its members over such issues is non-existent or a complete joke.
I had already done pretty much all of what you suggested on the very night I found out about it, as I was pissed off and drunk. However, I have to be careful, because I have heard from several other artists on MySpace who had their accounts terminated over such things without any warning.
I have a blog about this (on my MySpace profile, where there has been much discussion), but I will ultimately have to move this discuss off of MySpace territory and see if we can get organized, as artists, to do something about this. Even though organizing artists is like trying to heard cats...

Hey, I can heard my cats (sort of) and I am an artist. This issue is so huge in this country as a whole. I know they must do thing like that but it still doesn't seem right. I wonder what messege we are giving the next generation. Artistic nudes aren't okay but they are exposed to soooo much other shit-vigra ads non stop on scifi and not to mention prime time shows I wouldn't like kids under 13 watch-but we attack the artists. If I remember my history correctly don't we control the artists and educated people first in order to gain control of a society? I realize this might not mean that but one has to wonder where we are going...
